thing in the world, but the benefits are worth every second and penny you
spend.
Expect to spend about $4000 - $5000 for GYROTONIC (or $3000
- $4000 for GYROKINESIS) on your education (including travel costs) over the
course of the 12-24 months it takes to get fully certified. Keep in mind,
however, that you CAN begin teaching about half-way through your training.
Please note: this estimate does not include the cost of purchasing equipment,
studio rental fees, and private lesson costs.
The Step-by-Step Certification Process
Private Lessons
It is important to have an understanding and a passion for the work before
embarking on a rigorous teacher training program. We suggest a minimum of 20
private lessons or a year of attending group classes. It is highly recommended
that these lessons be taken (all or in part) from either a Master Trainer or a
Pre-Trainer (advising them of your certification goal) so that they may best
prepare you.
Pre-Training
Designed to ensure you have a strong understanding of the system in your own
body before learning how to teach it to others. Pre-Training can be taken in a
private or group setting and must be taught by a Master Trainer or an
Authorized Pre-Trainer. Course lengths are:
- GYROTONIC: A minimum of 20 hours of GYROTONIC instruction and 2 GYROKINESIS classes.
- GYROKINESIS: A minimum of 24 hours of GYROKINESIS instruction.
Foundation Training
An intensive course conducted by a Master Trainer. Upon successful completion
you are issued a Certificate of Apprenticeship and you can begin providing
instruction to clients. Course lengths are:
- GYROTONIC: 12-day/60-hour course.
- GYROKINESIS: 9-day/45-hour course.
Apprenticeship Period
As an Apprentice, you have 18 months to log a specific amount of teaching
client hours and to attend a Supervised Apprentice Review course with a Master
Trainer. Course requirements are:
- GYROTONIC: 60 hours of Teaching Client Hours and 30 hours of Supervised
Apprentice Hours with a Master Trainer.
- GYROKINESIS: 40 hours of Teaching Client Hours and 15 hours of Supervised
Apprentice Hours with a Master Trainer.
Final Certification
Once you have successfully completed your Apprenticeship Period, which is
determined by your Master Trainer, you enroll in a final 3 day/15 hour Final
Certification Course. In
Bi-Annual Update Course and Continuing Education
Within two years after you have complete your final certification (and every
two years thereafter) you are required to attend either a Certified Trainer
Update with a Master Trainer OR take a new course (GYROKINESIS, Specialized
Equipment, etc) all with a licensed Master Trainer.
A note about Course Fees
Each course offered in the GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS program has a set "base course fee." These fees are set by GYROTONIC corporate and are the same at every studio in the world. To this it is customary for studios to add a "deposit/studio fee." These fees vary from studio to studio and help to compensate the studio for hosting the course.
